Clinical Studies at CDRI, Lucknow

ATTENTION DEFICT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER( ADHD)

Children with ADHD are less efficient learners, as initially they learn the same no. of words as controls but are weak in recalling the words after delays.

Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are the key behaviors of ADHD. It is normal for all children to be inattentive, hyperactive, or impulsive sometimes, but for children with ADHD, these behaviors are more severe and occur more often. To be diagnosed with the disorder, a child must have symptoms for 6 or more months and to a degree that is greater than other children of the same age.

Children who have symptoms of inattention may:
  • Be easily distracted, miss details, forget things, and frequently switch from one activity to another
  • Have difficulty focusing on one thing
  • Become bored with a task after only a few minutes, unless they are doing something enjoyable
  • Have difficulty focusing attention on organizing and completing a task or learning something new
  • Have trouble completing or turning in homework assignments, often losing things (e.g., pencils, toys, assignments) needed to complete tasks or activities
  • Not seem to listen when spoken to
  • Daydream, become easily confused, and move slowly
  • Have difficulty processing information as quickly and accurately as others
  • Struggle to follow instructions.

Children who have symptoms of hyperactivity may:
  • Fidget and squirm in their seats
  • Talk nonstop
  • Dash around, touching or playing with anything and everything in sight
  • Have trouble sitting still during dinner, school, and story time
  • Be constantly in motion
  • Have difficulty doing quiet tasks or activities.

Children who have symptoms of impulsivity may:
  • Be very impatient
  • Blurt out inappropriate comments, show their emotions without restraint, and act without regard for consequences
  • Have difficulty waiting for things they want or waiting their turns in games
  • Often interrupt conversations or others' activities.

A clinical study was taken on this matter by CDRI itself and the result show that the children improve themselves in a lot of areas after taking BESEB.

Significant results were also observed in following test scores:

a) Word Recall (Non Meaningful) Test Score
b) Digit Span
c) Delayed Response Learning
d) Paired Associated Learning
e) Total Memory

RESULT : Their logical memory, concentration and learning abilities improved a lot more than before taking the Memo Plus Gold extract.

AGE ASSOCIATED MEMORY IMPAIRMENT (AAMI)

Age Associated Memory Impairment is a common condition characterized by very mild symptoms of cognitive decline that occur as part of the normal aging process.
Symptoms confirmed in objective tests include a general slowness in processing, storing and recalling new information, and a general decline in the ability to perform tasks related to cognitive functioning (such as, memory, concentration, and organizing activities).
Subjective complaints from individuals with age associated memory impairment often include difficulties remembering names and words. Current understanding of age associated memory impairment indicates that this condition is the result of physiological changes in the aging brain and not a specific neurological disorder. Like every other organ of the body, the aging brain simply does not function quite as well as it used to.
Another clinical study by CDRI are for AAMI patient. They were given standard dosage for 16 weeks and significant result shows on their memories. Their memory improves and level of anxiety drop resulted in more happy and optimistic person.

P/S : BESEB means BACOSIDES ENRICHED STANDARDIZED EXTRACT OF BACOPA (BESEB) only found from CDRI.
